2-3 hour walk through woods (If walking straight there and back)

Turn right out of the drive

Walk up the hamlet to the junction at the top of the road (passing the chapel on your left

and the bus stop on your right)

When facing the thatched cottage turn right

Follow the road round past Sheers Farm

At the top of the road take the farm track to the right (has a very worn out Public footpath sign)

When you get to the end of the track you come to a farmer’s field taking you into a sheep field (dogs on lead). Use the track to the right of the field until you come to the gate

Once through the gate dogs can come off the lead again. Follow the path down the valley into the woods

When the path splits you want to take the right-hand path down

At the bottom follow the path marker down towards the river

Cross the bridge

Go over the stile and turn right at the footpath marker

Follow the path along the river through the gate and carry on until you reach the lane

Walk down the lane into the tiny hamlet of Coombe

Cross the little bridge to the side of the river ford and continue to the end of the lane

Follow the lane until you join the road, turn left then right to Duckpool

Walk down the road to the beach. You will go past the public toilets.

You can either walk across the stones over the river to get on the beach….but only if the river has dried up in the summer, or you need to go through the kissing gate just before to cross over to the beach following the coast path

Duckpool beach is tidal. It has beautiful sand at low tide, but none at high tide. If you want to spend time on the beach, before retracing your steps back, we recommend you start the walk about 2 hours before low tide so you can have time on the sand when you are there.
